Suggestions on door seal?

Hello! We have a 81 Triple E Honey that is almost ready for her first outing with us. Lots of work done on her, including adjusting the door. Weather stripping has been installed around the doorway on the trailer body, but there are still large gaps around the door and the trailer body. What have you had success with in getting a good door seal? Thank you!

Add more weather stripping seems to be the answer or take the door off and try to heat and reshape it. BIG JOB>

Hi Laura Lee, welcome to FiberglassRV, we're glad you're here. Ron mentioned heating the door to reshape it... that's a new one on me. There are door fixes to reshape it, but that's a lot of work. I'd say, as Ron mentioned, add more weather stripping... or buy and mount "thicker" weather stripping. There are different types of weather stripping too. You might want to try a "bulb" style... where the interior is a tube and when the door compresses the stripping it seals with different pressure around the body. It typically seals better than a non-bulb style.

Scamp uses "closed cell foam" weather stripping sort of like what the big box stores sell for around window AC units. Very "spongy" so can compress for the tight spots but fill the gaps.

Can be purchased or ordered pretty thick, local hardware store has it in stock at 7/16 of an inch (11 mm). I think stock on scamp is 1/2 inch (13 mm) with maybe 3/4 inch (19 mm) on bottom edge

Page is for one size and lists some others further down.

It's on my to-do list also, noticed the light coming from around lower part of door on camping trip.
