Hi all,

Anyone have tips/ideas on creating a screen door for a Surf Side? I have seen pictures of Bolers with them and someone mentioned a template they got off this site, but I can't track anything with the search button.

Thanks heaps

Jason

Here's one I posted: Gord's Trillium Screen Door

Here's another topic, where the door doesn't require a frame: bug off screen door

I looked at Gords and others at a gathering and then used this rough idea to make this one.
Go to the help centre at bolerama and there are two variations of a screen door that you can make.
Just a helpful hint... first level your trailer, or the door may not end up square.

I made a soft one that snaps on at the top and just hangs in the opening. sewed in a metal rod at the bottom to weigh it down and keep it flat. it's not 100% bug proof but it was a LOT cheaper that a hard door. I'll try to remember to snap a couple photos for you this week.

Jason,

A Uhaul trailer's screen door is very simple.

It's a thick net 'screen' with a zipper velcro'd to the wall surrounding the door. That's the way they came. Mine is an 85, been thru several renters in it's early days of existance and still going strong! If you're interested to see it, send me a PM and I can email you some pics.

That sounds like something you could easily build, using one of the $9.99 ez up screens that I just found online...
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...;ci_sku=249627

cut out one of the zipper sides to fit the inside of your door, add some velcro to the sides to hold it up and voila! instant screen door that you can remove easily, like the uhaul screen! I think the way we plan to set up our ez up screen shelter, we will need only 3 sides to be solid, then the 4th side that would be against the trailer can be cut, using the section in the middle w/ the zipper to cover the door, and then some how attach the 2 cut sides of the big ez up screen to the camper (velcro maybe?) Sounds easy enough in theory.
I will give it a go, and see how it works out. I already have the screen ordered, and if it looks good, I might go ahead and order a few extras. At that price, if I mess it up the first try, it's got 2 sides with zippers, so I can afford to make mistakes with this project!

Thanks for the ideas!

here's the snap-on method. as I said, not 100% bug proof so I'm making one with a zipper like Carolyn's next.
