swing down double bed

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone could tell me how the swing down bed over the table, in trillium's work. How is it attached ? how is it stored? i found a picture of it in a brochure that can be found here. http://www.geocities.com/trilliumtrailer/t...lbrochure5.html

I really enjoyed looking at those trillium pictures. Our trillium has almost none of those startling amenities. I did read that the swing down double bed "swings neatly away when not in use". Uh, like Where? How can it be? As you may have noticed I can't answer your question. It's a good question, maybe it's a internet hoax...brilliant in its obscurity.

There was a similiar discussion on Bolerama a few months back but I don't think it was ever resolved. Hmmm, if I recall correctly though someone had one but there were no pictures. Must look back and see!

No, I have no idea how it would swing down either unless it retracks up to the ceiling somehow? Where else could it go back there and still leave the dinette?

I had a swing down bed in my old motor home.It had a hinge and spring set up which allowed the bed to swing back up to roof.The underside of bed matched ceiling and it looked ok.:wave

The Road Runner by Sun Valley is the only contemporary make I've seen that does this. I saw one a few years ago. If I remember correctly there were piano hinges attached to a lighweight platform that swung down from the ceiling when it opened. The ceiling over the dinette was slanted, sort of like a Aliner. So, when the bed came down it was parallel to the floor and at an angle to the roof. There were wall catches, a piece of wood about the length of a 12" ruler and about 1" thick, on both ends of the dinette wall that the platform lay on for support.

I really liked the floorplan but did not like that the RR overhead bunk was rated for about 100 pounds or less. The walls just were not sturdy enough to support more weight. A piece of cheap foam lay atop the platform.

You raised the bed by pushing the platform up so that it was flush with the ceiling. I'm fuzzy on this but I think there were straps on either end of the platform that secured the bed to the ceiling.

I worry about the ability of a Scamp/Casista roof to support hanging bodies. Seems such an addition would have to include legs to the floor. Some folks question whether a 75 pound air conditioner is too much for the roof structure. An adult or two, maybe in motion, Oh No!
