T-Style Door Holder ?

Does anyone use a T-Style Door Holder on their trailer? Mine came with one that is mismatched in color and looks to be hooked up backwards. Which side does the T part go on. The door or the trailer??

Well, on my Scamp.. the "T" portion (door holdback) is on the trailer with the holder bracket on the door.

Door Holdback

Actually, the one on my Scamp has a 45 degree angle like this one: RV Designer 45 Zinc Door Holder - Holdbacks & Bumpers - Entry Door - Hardware and it hangs down.. not horizontal.

Thanks Donna, That means that it was installed correctly, what is supposed to keep the floppy T part from moving toward the door when you travel or do you always have to remember to check it before you open the door. Someone has dented the outside of my door with it. There is quite a big dent which will need straightened out.

You may have a broken or missing spring. Ours lays flat towards rhe door but has a spring to hold ot against the wall when not in use.

Mine has neither a spring nor is floppy. Someone on one of the boards, used a small piece of clear acrylic tubing and cut a slit in it and placed it over the long portion of the "T" with the purpose of protecting the gelcoat from the thing flopping against the body during travel. That should work, but how you protect the door... I haven't a clue.

Mine may have been installed incorrectly at that. There isn't room for it to fold towards the door and not touch the door which is what the problem is. You can see what it's done to the door. I took it off and there is a clean up mess to deal with also. So I get to try out my new silicone remover. I already used the Evap O Rust on the bracket. I think the picture is rotated incorrectly but you can still see how deep it has dented the aluminum.
