Lainey-one note of caution when travelling with the table in the bed position without modification-The only thing holding the table in place (at least in my case) is/are the
weight of the cushions.I know gravity helps but if you do bounce around the cushions can start to shift and your table/bed can potentially become a flying work of art.
The original bed design ,although not perfect,has travelled for many years and millions of miles for a lot of people with minimal problems so I wouldn't consider it to be a hazard.The stress on the back wall appears to be minimal but it seems the newer flip type retainer on the
Scamp etc provides restraint even in the bed position something lacking in the older
Boler style.
My caution and interesting experience with an errant table was of my own making when I failed to ensure the table leg was fully engaged on the bent bolt as I had stepped on the bolt,bending it down and did not properly ensure adequate clearance when I hurriedly tried to save time.Not a design problem-brain issue!
My suggestion is travel with the table up and locked(sounds like airline talk) and let the equipment do its job.
