Tire pressure for slide-in camper

I am carrying a heavy Arctic Fox camper on the bed of my 2007 Silverado 2500 pickup. The truck is equipped with 10 ply tires and air helper springs. I have been told that for safety reasons I should always inflate my truck tires to the maximum allowed when I am carrying the camper. The maximum recommended on the tires themselves is 80 psi. The truck manufacturer recommends that the rear tires should be inflated to 80 psi and the front tires should be at 55 psi in normal use. I have been inflating both front and back tires to 80 psi when I am carrying the camper. Is this advisable?

You will have better luck over rv.net, this site is for molded fg trailers, not truck campers.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hi John, welcome to FiberglassRV. Jim's right, you've come across a forum with a focus of all molded fiberglass towables.

Social Knowledge is the owner of this forum and they've got another really friendly forum with owners of truck campers that will be able to help you. Check it out: iRV2 - RV Forum Community

Good luck

Send a message via Yahoo to Darwin Maring
I've seen Molded Fiberglass Campers that ride in the bed of a truck. Is that not a Fiberglass RV?
