Tire problem

On the way back from Sequoia/Kings NP earlier this week, I experienced
my first Carlisle tire failure. I'd been visually checking the tires
at each stop and occasional checking tire pressure with a pressure gauge,
but there wasn't much way to tell the inner sidewall was getting ready
to pop...and, that's just what it did. As we were heading east on hwy 58
between Tehachapi and Mojave, I heard a pop and pretty much knew it was
a tire, just didn't know which or where. I pulled to the side of the
road and my first glance said everything was OK, but then I heard a hiss
and noticed the curbside Casita tire was going flat. Had I not heard
the pop, the situation could have been a lot more serious. At first it
looked like a nail or some other sort of puncture, but once I got the
tire off I found that a small section of the inner sidewall had separated.
and split. I'm now looking into my replacement options.

Rich

Tire

:wave Rich,

That sounds very much like my experiance. I replaced with 15” 8 ply tires. Carol & Jim Upton got the same ones. Good luck.

Other possibility

Rich,
:wave I'm sorry to hear about your problem.

I didn't change tire sizes and I switched to Tow-Master tires made in Canada. These are made by Goodyear and appear to be the same as the Goodyear Marathon. (Note: I had a Tow-Master made in Texas that I retired because of its age) So far, so good.

You might want to contact Casita. I believe they switched to Goodyears. They might be able to give you a good deal, if your interested and don't want to go the 15" tire route. Just another option.

Good luck,
