Tote n Terry Trailer

Has anyone heard of or seen a Tote'n Terry trailer? I would love to find one! My parents sold them new on their car lot in the 70's in San Diego, CA. Nothing comes up on Google. I'm not positive on the spelling. They were one piece fiber glass & a little smaller (shorter) than a Casita, but looked similar. They called it the mother-in-law trailer & towed one behind their 28' motorhome (for the mother-in-law, of course).

Try "Tote n Tarry" and you should pull up plenty. That's "tarry," as in stay a while.

Cool Tote n Tarry

We had a '72 that we sold last year. They look like another clone/sister of the other fg eggs I think they are at least all "kissin' cousins". The interiors are just about identical to one another in the early years.

Another name was "Burro"
It originated in Iowa, but was moved to Escondito CA, to take advantage of a supplier in Mexico, and they just did the the assembly work in CA. I expect they have gone out of business.
They were molded fibreglass, with the two halves joined side to side instead of top and bottom. It had both outer and inner shells fitted together with insulation between. The interior was the same shiny white surface as the exterior.

Tote n Terry Trailer

There are dozens of different manufacturers, many of which, like Tote n Tarry, are long gone, but their trailers live on. On the FGRV website, click on the tab at the very top that says "manufacturers" to see a list. They are divided into those currently in production and "legacy" brands, like Burro and Tote n Tarry.

I believe Tote n Tarry falls into the "Boler-clone" family, which includes quite a few that have the same basic shape, layout, and construction (2-piece, single-layer shell joined horizontally). Boler itself, Scamp, Casita, Trail Mite, Love Bug, Minit and Perris Pacer fit into that category.

If you are determined to look only for a Tote n Tarry for nostalgic reasons, you need to prepare for a lengthy and far-ranging search, as they're relatively rare. It wouldn't hurt to post a wanted ad here and on fiberglass-rv-4sale.com.

Of course, everyone knows that the best brand of fiberglass trailer is...

the one parked in your driveway.

I took possession of ours back in 1998 after my father passed away. It is a 1972, and still has the original plate on the front. It was built in Petaluma, California, and was originally white and yellow before my dad had it repainted. I found the original brochure tucked away in one of the wheel wells and found out the the local seller was in Santee, CA, just outside of San Diego proper. They sold them at a Renault dealership of all places. Mine will go up for sale the day after I kick the bucket, and not a moment before!!

Did you parents have a Renault dealership in Santee?

I wonder if my parents bought it from your parents, and now we own their trailer? I know my dad bought it used here in San Diego.
