Trail-Mite bunk bed reinforcement strip

Decided to use glue to attach custom cut 1x3 to front wall and hate to do it but re-drill existing long ago filled in holes. Good, bad or crazy? Do you have a better idea? Thanks for any input.

Maybe some small screws and some glue.
