Trailer: 2008 Scamp 13 ft
Posts: 28
I need to move our 13 ft Scamp into a tight spot and I've read posts about the trailer dolly sold by Princess Auto. I saw it today but noticed it comes with the 1 7/8 inch ball and of course the Scamp has the 2 inch coupler Would this work as is, or do we need to put the larger ball on? Any other trailer dolly recommendations?

I bought my trailer dolly at Harbor Freight, so I'm thinking they're about the same. Seems to me changing the ball to the correct size would be a smart move. They're not that expensive.

Howdy, you can use the 1 7/8" ball....no problem......it won`t come of the dolly......will be a bit loose but works just fine....Benny

Thanks folks! We'll go with the 1 7/8 for now and see how it works. That way we can share the dolly with family who have that coupler size.

Last two dollys I bought (both from P.A. here on the coast NEVER came with any ball that I can remember anyway). WATCH out for the size of the dolly wheels though. I found each dolly had different sized wheels and the smaller diameter wheels are more flimsy (hub in two pieces bolted together), meaning they'll bend easier (like my last one did) when pulling the trailer in a tight circle.

I've popped a tire on the dolly, and am thinking about following the lead I found on another forum:
Quote:
also had the tires injected to make them a solid tire. I had this done at a tire shop that does farm tractor tire repair.
since I don't push/pull the trailer over gravel... just asphalt. Losing a tire on the dolly... never happens at a good time; like when I'm trying to hookup and leave town!
