The steel plate on my trailer jack is worn. More specifically, the holes where the spring-loaded lock-arm pop into are now oval shaped, slightly beveled, and won't hold the trailer jack in the upright position. Other than that, the trailer jack itself works just fine.
Has anybody encountered this problem? For now, I'm using a jack stand to hold up my
U-Haul CT because the trailer jack collapses due to the ovalled-out holes. Replacing the entire thing would be costly because the jack is welded to the frame and I would have to pay someone to do all the welding work of removing it all and replacing it, not to mention the cost of a new trailer jack.
Sooo.... is it feasible to have a couple of thick steel washers spot welded to the receiver plate to solve this problem? Has anyone done this before?
