trailer too tall to get in garage
hi
just a short note regarding the solving of my problem of getting my 13 ft scamp in my garage. I bought 2 4.80x8 5 lug trailer tires from a trailer supply store for a very reasonable price, for 2 tires and rims.worked great.

Hi Jim,
I also have a 13 ft scamp that is too tall for my garage. I assume the tires you installed lowered the overall height. If so, by how much? Thanks.

RE" 8" wheels
Just found out that 8" wheels, with either 4 on 4" or 5 on 4.5" centers are also commonly usd on smaller (and older) pop-up tent trailers.
That was a super tip for those with garage issues.

the 8"rims lowered the scamp low enough to get it in a garage with a 8' door

Smart idea to switch tires for parking and driving!

I purchased 2- 8 in 5 lug wheels ($35 ea) They lowered my 1975 Trillium by 4-5 inches. Just enought to clear my 7 foot garage doorby 2 inches. Normal wheels are 14 ''.
Be sure the roof vent is down !!!
Works great, only down side is if you can't leave trailer out in driveway and are a weekend camper you are changing wheels often.

Could you have meant a 7ft door?
My trailer(pictured below) fits easily under an 8ft door opening with stock tires.

No, unfortunately it's a 7 foot door opening. I wish I had an 8 foot door opening because it would probably be what I need with the stock 14" rims. It drops at least 6 to 8 inches once I put the drums on the car dollies. A bit of a pain but having it in the garage when I'm not using it gives me peace of mind. There have been several camper trailer thefts in our city including my neighbor whose pop up trailer was stolen. They even had proper theft protection.

I have been using the 4.80x8 wheels since I bought the Boler and started the modifications, they work great. In Canada you can buy them at Princess Auto.

Ian, how tall is your garage door opening and do you have any vents on the top of your boler? The biggest problem for me are the vents, although those wheels look like they might be small enough to work for me and might be worth looking into. As it stands right now, I've got the brake drums 3 inches from the ground and one of the top vents scrapes the top of my 7 foot garage door opening by just a hair. I have no room to play with for sure.
