Don't know what to tell you. What Scamp listed on my trailer and what Goodyear recommend are one and the same. The trailer tires get no hotter than the tires on my car. Trailer bounce is under control.

I'm not trying to suggest what you should do. I'm telling you what I do, and why it is not incorrect.

I can't tell you what to set your tire pressure at, but the more pressure the more bounce. Try it on a short trip and see for yourself.

Why would he have a blow out if he's following the PSI instructions on his tire?

Reason for possible blow out is that although the tires do have a max psi on the side of them - often the tire manufacture will have various recommendations as to the actual psi you should use based on the actual weight of the trailer. Highly recommend folks weigh their trailers loaded. To high a psi and you hit a big bump causing the trailer to do a big bounce things can go boom.

Did you see where he said the tires were hot? Sign of under inflation. Under inflation causes heat, destroys side walls, and creates blow outs. He's using outdated information posted on the side of his trailer.

I've talked to at least two trailer tire manufactures, Goodyear and Carlisle both said trailer tires should be inflated to maximum side wall pressure. NOTE: that's cold pressure measured in morning before traveling.

The Goodyear website has a RV Tire and Care Guide, on page 9 there is a chart that shows inflation pressure for different ST tire sizes based on weight on the tire. A quote from page 9...

"Because RVs can be loaded with many different configurations, the load on each tire will vary. For this reason, actual air pressure required should be determined based on the actual load on each individual tire."

Page 20 says that improper inflation is not covered under the warranty.

Please tell me why I will have a blowout when I am using the pressure that Michelin tells me to use for the weight of my Scamp. As mentioned, my tire temperature is fine, even after long highway driving I'm 90 degree weather.

Seems like most people that complain about blowouts also claim they are running at the maximum pressure, so maybe that's the cause of so many blowouts.

When I brought my trailer home 2 years ago, I had to keep it under 55 miles an hour due to bouncing. The trailer was light at that time, and the torsion part of the axle was shot, basicaly riding right on the axle. I didn't notice to much pull at 60, but looked in the rear view mirror I saw it leaping up and down a foot or more when I hit a little bump, it scared the pee out of me. After slowing down to 50 to 52, it seemed to stop. Don't know if this could be the problem or not.
