Following up on advice gleaned from forum readers, I had the frame reinforced on our '73 Trillium today. Side plates (gussets) consisting of 2"x 16" diamond-shaped 1/8" steel were welded to both sides of each front section of the A-frame in an area from about 4" behind the f/g shell anchoring bolts to about where the frame is "dimpled" from the factory bending process. The work was done at a custom welding/fabricating shop here in Peterborough; 2 hours of labour and material, the bill came to $161.00, taxes incl.... as well, they installed two new anchor bolts, and painted the areas of the welds...especially between the frame-top surface and f/g shell, since they had to raise the shell somewhat to prevent heat damage while welding the top edges of the gussets. At my request, they also did a once-over insp'n of the entire frame(while up on the hoist),and declared it to be still in excellant shape and quite sound.
A profesional job, to be sure, and at a fair price; can't beat that !

When you have a chance can you take some pictures? I think we might need to do that as well.

Thanks!
