These people might be able to help:
Replacement Car Title: Obtain Car Title with International Title Service

Where is the trailer from? Not every place has titles for small or old trailers. http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...html#post49056

If you can find the serial number you can check it with DMV or ask a local law enforcement officer check it to see if it has ever been registered in your state.

Michigan just has registration for some classes of trailers, no title but campers have a title. Know it is different in different states.

Think you can apply for a title here with a bill of sale "from the owner of record". Trick is to be sure your buying from the owner of record.

If state of purchase has titles for this type of camper (sec. of state can answer that) why can't seller apply for duplicate title, give you copy of application and bill of sale (with notary witness).

You might have to wait a bit for replacement title doing that, but here they offer "instant" or expedited service to get a replacement title for a fee.

Here in Vermont a trailer less than 1500 lbs unladen is not titled. Some states will accept a registration transfer and a bill of sale from a non-title state. Some won't. I have read some real horror stories on this forum. Some state DMV's will make it very hard, in fact impossible to register, without that title. Best to do your homework first. Raz

Jane,
Each state has their own rules, so depending on where she lives will determine the rules involved.
