U-Haul hook up box

I picked up my U-Haul CT 13 last weekend. I know nothing about campers. The box on the side for water and electric hookup has what looks like a place to attach a standard water hose and a yellow thing that looks like its made for pouring water into or sliding a hose into it.
What are they for? I haven't had a chance to open things up and trace the connections.
Jim

Jim, I don't own a U-Haul, most of the connections are pretty standard however. I'm betting that YES that's a water connection to hook you up to "city" water. Check for leaks before turning on fully.

You may have need for the documents in the Document Center for the U-Haul: Fiberglass RV - Document Center - U-Haul

Hookup on the left is for water hookup. There is a pressure regulator built in. On the right is a flip cap that allows you to pour water into the tank, which is under the rear seating area.

Welcome to the UHaul club.

You might want to run bleach through your system to clean it out. Welcome home

Our VT has the potable water filler next to the city water hookup just like you have mentioned. However, we have another potable water filler on the right rear of the trailer, too, just left of the tail light. I wonder if the original VT had two fresh water tanks? Of course, none are left now so I can't just look. When we bought the VT in 2007, the PO had put in a large water tank in the space between the two rear benchseats (or in the space under the bed). We took that out to gain the storage space back. I assume the tank sat under the passenger side rear bench seat, but I don't know for sure. Any VT owners know?

You might want to make sure there is still a tank before you stick the hose in the filler and turn it on! Don't want you to end up with a swimming pool in your trailer.

My Vt did not come with a water tank, but when I replaced all the plumbing it was apparent that like Kevin's we had a city water loop and a loop that was fed by a tank. In my case it was simply a hose connection that terminated under the trailer to the left of the door. The faucet in the sink and shower could be fed by the pump which took it's suction from a hose attached to the hose connection dipped into a bucket or from city water through the pressure reducer connection either way. Original was to be fed from a tank that sat under the left rear bench next to the battery. A drain spigot was located under the left tail light to drain this tank.
