U-Haul Window Repair

With CindyL's encouragement, I've created a PDF from the information in this topic: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ows-42722.html

The PDF is 16 pages long and hyperlinks within are all active (as of 3/5/12). I hope the information and printable document helps!

Download the PDF here: Fiberglass RV - Document Center - U-Haul Side Window Repair Information

Thanks Donna, the window repair is a task I need to get to eventually. Now if someone could come up with info as to where and what to get for exact fit replacement windows it would be great!! I also need to replace the rear window unit, ours is beyond repair. Bob

Thank you so very much Donna, it will be a big help for as long as U-Haul trailers are around.

Thank you! Thank you! When I am home from the conference I am at, I will post the exact links for getting the rubber and felt in the relevant links section.

We have dubbed ourselves "the Rainmakers.". So far, almost every outing in rPad2 we have taken, we have had a gully washer . Past weekend in Magnolia RV Campground just off I-26 north of Columbia, SC we again did the Lucy/Desi scenario: picture this: 1:30 AM, plink plink plink.....then bam bam bam, then drip drip drip then gush gush gush... And us frantically rolling paper towels cigar style and stuffing in window channels...it was a three roll paper towel rain this time. We gotta get these windows fixed!

You can't find exact fitting windows that I know of. Most take what they have and fabricate new seals. One person bought Scamp windows which are not an exact fit. He cut the fiberglass to make them fit.

Sorry.

Cindy has that right. The most expensive items in repair/modifications for most all molded towables is: windows/ axles/ 3-way refrigerators / awning. Depending on need / model / wants.

I'm cheap! I'd rather fix/repair than replace if my budget can stand it. After all, my trailer is used for recreation/ relaxing... it's NOT my "only" home.

YMMV

The good news is that if the glass and metal parts are all there, you can buy all the rubber parts and rebuild the windows as many of us have done, using an excellent step by step thread here. Search "UHaul side window".

Thank you all for all your input. I WILL get this window thing figured out. The rolled-up towel under the window inside works fairly well. After all, we're not talking about a LOT of water, and not all the time. Many thanks. I am enjoying the ride.
