We use a First Up (or Easy UP - whatever Walmart sells). We prop it against our UHaul
, leaving the UHaul side screening tied out of the way. For us, it works better than an awning. It stops the bugs and gives us more living space. We bought sides from Hutshop and let those down when it is windy or raining. We rarely camp without setting it up, just because of the additional space for reading, exercising, or partying with fiberglass friends. Makes a great place to share a few wines.
PS: On the icebox, I cannot help much as we use an electric refrigerator
(whose door comes loose when we drive). However, a previous owner added a child's lock to hold it closed when we drive. We added a child's bar kind of lock too to keep it closed. The hubby adds bungy cord. (It holds it closed riding, but as soon as I take the cord off, the door falls off, so he has to put the door back on.
