Ya know Dave, I don't know for sure, but our neighbors screen tent went over, tents collapsed in the tent area, tree limbs were down all over the place, but we did not have a problem.

The Clam sides are under some tension which I think helps. We also staked everything well. We've been tent campers for 40 years before we started this travel trailer stuff!

We bought a bag of stakes at Bass Pro that I use for the bottom skirt grommets on the CLAM 1660. With the wind panels in place or in higher wind speeds, I figured that the stakes and ropes that are supplied with the CLAM could then be used with the black loops/tabs that are attached to the hubs in the middle of each side. I hoped that would provide quite a bit of stability for high wind situations.

To provide additional shade and protection from the wind and rain, we got two of the 3-panel accessory wind panel kits from Amazon (that is where we purchased the CLAM). The six wind panels can turn the 1660 screen room into a fully enclosed tent (or partially, I suppose) for more sleeping/lounging space or maybe a partitioned off porta-potti spot?
