Wanted: Driver/rider to share trip to Yellowstone in July

Driving to Yellowstone National Park & The Grand Tetons National Park in July. Departing Las Vegas Sat July 13 and returning Sun July 21. Need a male ( wife's orders) to assist in driving there and back and around the Parks. All expenses paid ( except your booze). Transportation to and from Las Vegas is at your expense. We'll be towing my 13 ft Scamp. You'll sleep in either a tent OR in the back of my pickup truck.
Chance of a lifetime!

You might try throwing an ad in the Las Vegas Craigslist. Probably a better chance of finding someone.

You don't want to be an unpaid care-giver and driver?
I don't think that's just a girl thing.
I've been waiting for the punch line myself.

I thought tents weren't allowed in Yellowstone because of bears?

There are folks that may never have an opportunity to see one of our country's most beautiful national parks. I agree though that Craigslist is a better forum for finding someone since I think most of the folks here have their own wheels and campers. Good luck Brian.

How would you vet a total stranger from Craigslist to be certain you're getting not only a reasonable driver, but also not a latter day Freddie Krueger? Lots of wackos and scammers hang out on Craigslist.

Really good point Robert. I wouldn't do it, but lots of people use it to share rides for both short and long distances. I think its mostly younger guys that are willing to take the chance.

My suggestion would be to see if there are any neighbors or friends who may have a college-age son who would like to go along. Then you would know the family. Maybe through a local church or service club? It would seem to be preferable to know the person BEFORE the trip!

Kevin, those are great suggestions! Particularly the local service club such as the Lions or church (even if you are not an attending member). Craigslist would be my last resort.

Yes, finding someone that you can at least get some good references on would be paramount. This works both ways, as if I was the fellow asked to go on a trip like this with someone I did not know, I would want to check them out too.

I could write a whole crime/horror/comedy show around this idea. But now that Tom has applied for the job, I suspect that the wife might be having second thoughts.

All that said, going to Yellowstone in mid July is kinda like goin' to the Zoo at feeding time, even the guy that turns Old Faithful on and off takes a vacation to NYC to get away from the crowds.

I do hope that the op has already locked up reservations for eveything from a camping spot to a place in line at the gas station, it gets really crowded thereabouts in July
