Another newbie question. Has anyone washed the original cushion covers for a 1978 Trillium? Any hints or advice on this. Afraid to put them in the washer in case they fall apart. Also what is best to wash the inside down with? The ensolite (is that the right word?) looks really good shape wise but we would like to clean it up a bit. Thanks for all of the help. We were able to replace the propane hose with previous advice from here.

It's only a matter of washing them gently and AIR drying, but muscling them back into the covers can prove a little challenging. You can also febreze the foam and let them air out for a few days, really improves the interior ambiance. After almost 30 years, maybe new cushion covers are in order?
I'm new here, too, but I've read most people use KILZ or similar paint on the ensolite, but if you're cleaning just try green clean spray or citrus based which is a good solvent. Mine has gotten loose in a few areas, I was going to reattach with a hot glue gun.

We washed the Scamp covers that had come in the trailer when we bought it.
That is the reason we now have new covers from Scamp.
What went into the washer didn't resemble what came out....

Lenna, I'm another newbie, but maybe 6weeks ahead of you. I took the upholstery off, and found the original covers underneath. Orange with a dark green vinyl back, Not able to be resored. But the newer cushion covers that were over them washed up fine on gentle. Putting them back on was not so bad, if you turn the covers half inside out, and scrunch them down like pantyhose!
Then I decided to wash the actual foam of the cushions. Spent most of one weeknd stomping on them in the bathtub, rinsing, rinsing, rinsing. Tons of grit came out. So now they feel more like ours, when we start off sorta clean. But they took forever to dry. Airing them in the sun, on lawn chairs, in and out of the house whenever it looked like rain. Probably 2 weeks of that. Quite a nuisance. But now it's done! Good luck!

The dry-cleaning lady told me to take them home and wash them in Woolite and air dry them.

I have a tip for getting the covers back on....

Slide the foam into a large trash bag first... then pull the covers on and once secure pull the trash bag out. I have had to cut the trash bag to get it out but it works really well as the bag makes the foam slippery and the covers don't get all stuck to it in the process.

Have to give the credit for that one to HGTV
