Tony,

Everyone should always pay attention to the amount of current(amps) that is available at the supply receptacle and not exceed it. But when using an extension cord for any device you want it to appear electrical invisible. This is obtained with the heavy gage wire. When you purchase any high wattage electrical device it comes with instructions not to use with an extension cord. This is because the average person will plug it into a cheap extension cord(small gage). The weak point in one is the connection and can heat up enough to cause a short or fire.

If the supply is wired correctly, a fuse or circuit breaker will trip if the current is exceeded. With a good heavy extension cord and the current is exceeded the same thing happens. This way nothing gets hot and everything is safe.

Be Safe

Men!

Let's all bow our heads for the Man's Prayer:

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.
:cheers

watts......K.I.S.S.

1. Feel the extension cord:............if it's warm, unplug it.

2. Feel each plug end:...................if it's warm, unplug it.

3. If it's too hot to touch, turn things off........then fix it.

==========
Steve: Appreciate your well thought out information. Just had to have a little fun with it and boil it down to a 'Keep It Simple Stupid' form. :wave
