Making new curtains for windows in our Compact Jr. Noticed screws with wing nuts on them about 1 inch from each side of the side windows. There are 2 on each side-anyone know what these were for? Would like to remove them because they stick out about 1/2 inch inside the camper.
Still looking for a wheel for a spare tire-can`t find any the right size-salvage yards have had non either. Thanks to all who have tried to help-anyone else have any ideas-thanks again. Mrs. C

Maybe part of hardware for a past outside window cover (rock guard)?

Can you post a photo?

On my sister's Compact Jr, there are studs like you describe on the outside of the front window; she uses them to hold a piece of plexiglas over the window as a rock guard.

But, you, know, it's your trailer; if you don't like them, take them out!

We have the rock guard for the front window-these screws are next to the side windows-didn`t want to take them out if they were used for some part that we don`t have and may need to find. They are not bothering us-just need to cut them so they don`t stick out so much- if we take them out-then we have 2 holes on each side of the windows-was just wondering if someone knew what they were for.

Our Compact Jr. has 2 flat screws in front and 2 behind both side windows. They are there to hold side window shade mounting hardware. This was an option on CJs. They seem to have no other function. Here is a picture of the side of a CJ with the shades.

Sorry

What is on the outside of you trailer-paint?
Had thought of painting the outside but don`t want a mess to clean up if it goes wrong.
Do you mind telling me what you paid for the trailer?

My Compact II had the holes for the side shades as well, though a previous owner siliconed them in/over. I THINK (not 100% sure) I've seen pics of some kind of shade for the door also, that goes with those side shades. I bet it would be kind of neat to see a Hunter sibling with those shades intact.
