What is this tag?

Getting ready to paint the egg, can't imagine that I'd need to keep this on the trailer. Anybody know what it is? Thanks.

I don't think you could create a problem by leaving it alone.

If you look in the lower right you will see VIN. This is where the VIN is to be stamped in California. You should also have the VIN somewhere else on the trailer frame. I can't find our VIN so I am going to have a friend stamp it on the tongue. The only time this becomes an issue is when registering the trailer in Washington or another state that actually inspects the trailer to ensure that the VIN matches the trailer. Some states require that the VIN be certified, since you are in California it would be best to ask the DMV.

I don't have one like that on my 73 Hunter, which was built and first sold in California. I'd drill out the rivets and remove it for painting and either reattach it or just keep it with your title and other papers for the trailer.

As mentioned above, if you don't have a VIN/Serial number stamped into your frame that should be "taken care of"(hint?)

I cut the tag off a mattress one time and it voided the warranty. Laughing now but not then. LOL Unless it would assist with the resale in another state like bob said. But what the heck be reckless. Rip that sucker off. LOL. Just kidding. Maybe someone from CA DMV can assist.

I don't think that rivet is hold the tag on. Think tag is just foil.

Thanks everyone, it's coming off.
I'll save it and store it with the title.

Likely to come off in very small pieces.
Can you take a photo that shows the entire VIN?

I was able to get a photo of the entire tag, I'll have a hard copy made.
They sure used some good glue but I was able to get it off in one piece.

Cracked me up, "30 plus" years of registration tags! LOL

Talking California Department of Housing and Community Development

According to Wikipedia:

"The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is a department within the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency that develops housing policy and building codes (i.e. the California Building Standards Code), regulates manufactured homes and mobilehome parks, and administers housing finance, economic development and community development programs.
The HCD Housing Assistance Program (HAP) acts as the local housing authority for 12 rural counties: Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, Glenn, Inyo, Modoc, Mono, Sierra, Siskiyou, Trinity, and Tuolumne. One of the primary purposes of housing authorities is to manage Section 8 housing, but other activities include Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlements and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding. The HCD has administered CDBG program for non-entitlement cities and counties (cities and counties under a specified population level that do not automatically receive CDBG funds directly from the federal government) since 1983, and administers HOME funding for cities and counties that do not receive HOME allocations directly from the federal government since the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act of 1990"

They have a website:

Department of Housing and Community Development - State of California

There is a section on RV's and mobile home parks in the website.
You do know that government agencies never go away, don't you?
