Well I'm ready to start painting the inside of my 74 boler.

I've caulked all the seams and cleaned the ensolite.

What is the best way to paint? Roller or Brush.

Did anyone use primer first.

...and what type of paint did everyone use.

Has anyone experienced the paint to flake off over the years.

since the ensolite is soft and flexible, does the paint crack and flake off at all.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

I used melimane paint on my previous Boler. It never flaked in the 3 years i used it.I used both a roller and brush.
I cleaned the interior as best as i could and was very happy with results.

Jayson,

I just finished painting my 81 Scamp Ensolite about 45 days ago after an intense scrubbing with Fantastic. Per recommendations that were posted here I used:
Zinnser Perma White
which is an anti-mildew interior paint.
Very pleased with the results, I think it looks better than the ensolite probably did new. It has taken a good bit of abuse with reinstalling all of the components and it has held up well.
The nice thing is if you keep a quart handy it is easy to touch up over the years.
Pic will show the old ensolite and the new paint:

Hi Jason ,

I too am in Winnipeg and want to paint the ensolite and door interior of my '73 boler.
I have spoken to 2 other boler owners from Calgary & Dryden who claim to have used Exterior Latex and Tremclad with great results.Since both their climates are similar to ours (-30 to +30 ) it should work fine but I don't want to make any mistakes !
I'm just not sure.
Any other opinions out there ?

One mentioned using interior and the other exterior of the Zinsser Perma White. Which would be better for the interior?<<<Sounds like a trick question but I'm thinking there might be a considerable difference considering it is a Boler and not a house...

Thanks.

I would think up here in Canada, exterior paint would be needed inside to withstand the temp.spread between summer and winter..Can't imagine interior paint is formulated to withstand -35 degree temps.especially when applied to Ensolite.
