RogerDat - the problem with a flashlight is that it takes at least one hand to hold it. My hubby favors those headlamp thingies and I must say they're pretty useful. Many of them give you options for brightness and aiming of the light and they leave your hands free. Nice for walking around at night in the campground or reading in bed when one person wants to stay up and one wants to go to sleep. I just don't want to strap one on just to find something in the cupboard.

Darwin - thanks for the explanation and for the link. I'll check it out!

Doghaus - thanks for the recommendation on the SuperBright LEDs. I'll check them out too.

Our cupboards and closets are really dark and sometimes finding what you're looking for is a real PITA. One might also consider painting the inside of the cupboards white.

I used Hitlights from Amazon with a push button switch mounted outside.
Lots of led goodness.

Lights in closet

Gosh guys, the 12VDC is under the closet floor, shouldn't be much of a job to wire up a light w switch and mount it in the closet.

I use flat mount sticky LEDs. Mine, once on, won't come off. I've been using stick on magnetic switches. One of these wants to come off. I'll reinstall with small screws or tacks. It is convenient because the switches come with plenty of wire and I have several sub panels. I recommend using more than one LED flat panel-- one per shelf, or to ensure there is plenty of light. The magnetic switches work great. I love opening a cabinet and having instant light. I've done about a third of my cabinets and now consider it a necessity rather than a luxury.

I use flashlight, I will want flashlight handy, guess I can use it for this too.
That makes total sense - I would just need to make sure the flashlight gets back in the cupboard!

I purchased a couple rolls of LED lights along with multiple magnetic switches for the cupboards in our Lil Snoozy from Beetlefreak.com. What a joy to open the door and be able to instantly easily see everything inside.
