17' Casita owners. I need the number of inches from the edge of the trailer tongue, to the trailer jack tongue.
Trying to see, if my pickup tailgate will open, without hitting the tongue jack post on a 17' Casita. Thinking about moving up to a bigger trailer.
On my 13' Scamp the tailgate hits the post.

Thanks

Hi Kevin
When we had a pickup truck I found that not all drawbars were the same length. By looking around you may find one that's a couple of inches longer. OR you might move and change the centered front jack to a side mounted one and place it back a bit..

I don't know if they are all exactly the same since there's a certain amount of "hand made" in each trailer, but FWIW, my 2008 17SD measures exactly 10" from the front of the jack tube to an imaginary vertical plumb line, (to the very leading edge,) of the trailer hitch, per your drawing. Offhand, they are all pretty short, and I know I can't open my tailgate when hitched up.

Kevin, be careful with that ball mount. Don't use one any longer than necessary. The tongue weight on a Casita 17 can be 400 lb. That much weight with a long ball mount will exert a lot of leverage on your hitch receiver and on your tow vehicle.
