where to hang a towel in a 13'?

stupid question time! I have a 13' Scamp & took it out for the first time, what a blast! one problem, where do you hang towels up to dry? I hung it on a hanger & I tried the closet, and in front of the door but there wasn't enough circulation. Hooked it on the window outside, just in time for a T-storm, epic fail <_<. what do you do?

I put a pressure curtain rod between the closet and cabinet above the sink by the bed, and hang things from there. Towels being one of them. By the time I get back in the afternoon, the towel is dry, and I can hang it on a hook inside the bathroom.

Here are a couple of pictures. One has a paper towel roll on the rod next to the sink. The red thing is a length of Velcro cut to length of a full roll. I wrap it around the roll when traveling to prevent it frm unrolling.

Before going to bed at night, I get the clothes out to wear the next day and throw them over the rod. I also have an LED light with a hook that I hang to use as a nightlight if needed. The bed is permanent, so no interference with dining.

Decko Twin Towel Bar at Ace Hardware

I mounted one of these on the inside of my entry door near the top, (with the longest extension bar up which is actually upside-down). When the door is open the towel hangs outside and just close the door to bring the towel inside. The towel also acts as a curtain if your door has a window in it.

we have hooks, both inside the bathroom and on the bulkhead wall. Also the screen door works well for that purpose.

We use a FirstUp canopy and hang wet towels from the metal supports. Wet towels are not allowed inside!

+ 1 for outside is where towels go to dry.
Under canopy, or a line, or over the back of a folding chair. Drying stuff while camping in the rain is pretty much destined to be an epic fail. Under the canopy when it's raining it will get dry enough to use but not really dry.

Then (hopefully) the sun comes out and dries up the land(y) and towel too.

I really like tension rods. You can put them up close to the ceiling and hang items either over the top or on hangers. Think nighttime. The nice thing is they're typically out of the way, unless you're really tall.

We put our towels in the car and park in the sun with the windows cracked while we hike. The towels dry much better than in the trailer. I suggest using thin towels or camping quick-dry towels. Leave the luxurious thick towels at home.

I agree with Gilda. I first heard about the quick dry towels here on the forum. My wife found them at Kohl's. There is a whole line of them in different sizes and colors. They are cotton and dry you just as well as the "fluffy" ones. We tried them last week and had no problem keeping dry towels. Another trick is to use the little hangers with the clamps on the ends that normally hang pants in the stores. Clamp one end of the towel and let it hang straight down allowing better air circulation than if it is folded on top of itself. Good luck and have fun!

Hey Wallo,

I, too love the tension rod idea and never thought of that. Our towels were hanging over camp chairs, on truck tailgate or on picnic table till now. I have a tension rod in basement so will grab it and hopefully it's the right size!

Cheers,
Wendy

Wendy, if the rod doesn't fit side to side, see if it will fit front to back between the back upper cabinet and the upper sink cabinet, and on the opposite side. I also use very short ones inside the cupboards to keep contents in if the door pops open while traveling.

Hi Wallo,

I ran over to family dollar today. I got a tension shower rod pole and a tension cafe rod. Space was 46.5 inches.

I bought both because I wondered if the shower tension rod might hold up towel weight a little better (wet towels)?

Let me know whatcha think friend. The one I had in the basement was too small.

Wendy

Wendy, the tension rod I use is a small diameter curtain rod, I give it alot of tension and it holds wet towels well. I use the microfiber bath towel which is lighter than a normal bath towel.

The Gilda solution is the one we use when it's not too pleasant outside, it works well.

I have used a long curtain tension rod between my cabinets over the table/bed. The trim molding on the cabinets keep the rod from slipping down.

Those short rods can also be used to hold things back in a fridge. Keeps everything snug so it can't bounce around too.

If you have the rear overhead cabinet you could do a permanent solution as I did.

I cut two 1 inch dowels to size to fit on both sides of the trailer. I painted them white and ran screws from the inside of the cabinets into the dowels.
I mounted them far enough from the windows in case I ever need hanging clothes, the hanger/clothes won't hit the window. This also allowed for me to add little shelves behind the rods. I use the streetside for kitchen towels and the curbside for bath towels.

Here's a couple of pictures.
