Wide Body Burro Axle Source needed

Hello, we have discovered that we need to replace the axel on our 1999 17 foot wide body Burro. We are having trouble finding one to fit because of the extra width. Has anyone out there with the wide body replaced their axel? Or does anyone know where we can find a axel to fit? We can see where the tires are hitting and rubbing on the underside of the fiberglass body. This sure has put a snag in out upcoming trip planed for Death Valley next mo.
Please help ASAP if you can

Lil Snoozy torsion axles are wider than yours, so it must be possible to get. I forget the name of that axle mfr though. Some Atlanta firm.

Another one to check with is Flexiride.

Everyone we have look at would need to be altered and that alone puts them out of our pocket book range.
So still need help,

Call this place. My friend runs an RV Business back east and exclusively uses this place. Incidently there should be some kind of tag or marking or serial number on the axle itself which would give you exactly what they need to know to order a new axle..... If not measured dimensions is all they need. give them a shot, you won't be sorry.

I found the mfr name... it's Tie Down Engineering of Atlanta GA.

If all else fails, you might get a common spring axle installed. They tend to be cheap, plentiful, and made in a wide variety of sizes.

Mike.....
Pretty good info there. Is that the company that fabricates the axle for the Burro?
Always liked the Burro

No, Tie Down makes the torsion axles for Snoozy trailers. I just thought that if they can make one that wide, they probably can make one that's more narrow if they have the size and attachment details.

The ideal way to go about this would be for a trailer repair shop to source the axle because the shop would know how to take the measurements and would have supply contacts. But a given shop may only have supply arrangements for one brand (Al-ko, or Dexter, or whoever). If the OP hasn't been able to get what is needed through whatever repair shops they've tried, my thinking would be to contact some axle mfrs like Flexiride or Tie Down and ask if they can build an axle of the needed width, and if they can, follow the supply chain from distributor to a nearby shop (find out from the mfr what local place handles their brand).

But this is just my idea. Someone else might have a much better idea of how to go about it. Maybe someone has actually replaced their Burro's axle and will tell about it!
