The "fan blowing over a pile of ice" is how they used to cool movie theaters and is the reason A/C is sometimes measured in tons, with a ton of a/c being equivalent to a ton of ice melting over a specific period of time.

Tacky vs cool

My '89 came with it installed in the back window. That was the way they use to do it.

At first, I thought ''eeeeuuuuwwww.'' But, it's amazing. It really cools during the hot Texas summers. Now, it doesn't bother me so much. The more it cools me down, the less I notice it.

We have a lot of innovative owners on here that have come up with some really great installations. You have many options, not just the back window. I'm thinking of putting mine in the bottom of my closet. Problem is, I'm not sure I want to give up any of my storage space just to get it out of the window.

window works for me

take it out when you dont need it . no new holes to be filled in later when the permently installed one goes south ( breaks down)
Does not take up storage space inside . And best yet you dont have to get up in middle of the night to adjust temperture lol.
