Couple things I don't get about the window weatherstrip. It seems that it is always recommended to buy the AS1488 part, but the measurements shown for that are 1/4" both grooves. The weatherstrip I removed from my Uhaul measures 3/16" on the fiberglass side and 1/4" on the window side, which would be the AS1456. What's with that?? And Perfectfit says the best lock strip to use is AS789, but the info here is to use AS937. Am I missing something? My window ridge that fits into the weatherstrip also measures 3/16", but no weatherstrip is available with both grooves measuring 3/16", so I would think that the AS1456 would be the one to use. Their shipping seems kind of high, or is it, their calculator estimated $33. I only need enough to do one window as I replaced the other side window with one that uses a clamp ring, and to sell the excess may not be worth the time & shipping costs. Any opinions on this?

Bob, you may well be right on the outer rubber. Both my side windows leaked until I caulked the metal to rubber interface. I used the part recommended in the linked thread.

I used the 1488 and the AS789 lock strip on my VT but they have the same construction. I dont think the 1456 is wide enough to give the structural support needed assuming the pictures are in proportion as the lock strips are. the 789 lock strip is larger and requires some effort to get it started. Being larger it will compress the ears more taking up the extra space. I also pulled away the rubber from the fiberglass and used some dreaded Silicone windshield sealer for extra protection( hey Uhaul recommends it in their repair manual so it must be OK , Right?)No leaks in a year. I think there was a post where some one said they might have extra. i just got rid of mine last month. Do have a U haul solar panel and controller that I will be listing soon. I should have everything done for this year after I reset the back and side window.
