So it rained today, and I can tell that my biggie is leaking...
. I knew this prior from the dry rot, but I was feeling invincible when I bought this contraption.... But today there was actually water ..
. Some of it coming through missing screws ( open screw holes ) on the window frame , and some I hope is just old seals.
I have attached a few pics
1. I bought butyl tape today and will pop out and reseal the
windows when weather permits... But these
windows are looking rougher than when I originally saw them, rose coloured glasses and all...
2. Any advice on what needs to be done?? Do I need new rubber gasket on the exterior? Why are the sides different sizes? One half of the
windows black seal is a lot thicker than the other side ...
3. There is water pooling around the window sills, and when I took a peak under I saw this!!! Are there these gaping holes weeping holes? They seem pretty darn big ... Yes, I am THAT green ...
4. Also one picture shows a split in the window frame. Is this common?
HELP!!! I
sold this whole idea to my husband as what a great project! A little lipstick and we're off!, gulp! I want to do as much myself as possible since this was my idea!!
Feeling lastly defeated..
