For $135 I can buy a lot of test equipment and wires, and I hope they have encoding so one doesn't cross signals with others, but here 'tis.

Interesting find, Pete. Maybe a solution to emergency towing, or taking that newly acquired antique egg home to get sorted out.

Unless you can find fiberglass magnets.

This is an interesting idea. My small pull trailer has always had problems with tail-lights. It must be something in the harness. This could save me redoing all that wiring for occasional use. (I have more money than time right now!) Let us know if anyone orders the set and tries them out.

this looks just like the stuff the buyer of my old casita ran out to walmart to buy so he could tow my old (his new) trailer home. i think he said it was 29.95. he only had a flat connector so he couldn't use the trailer's round plug. to hold it on, he used duct tape. uugghhh!

For that kind of money he probably got a set of boat trailer lights (the kind meant to be taken off) with a lot wiring harness and a Flat-4 connector.

The wireless lights (WiLi ??) can be ordered with magnets and placed on the steel rear bumper of an egg (heartbreak if one fell off, of course).

I towed my Burro with temp lights bolted to a 2x4 and duct taped to my bumper for almost a year.

Yeah, here come the Beverly Hillbillys!

If I had magnetic-mount emergency towing lights (these wireless ones or the regular wired ones) and needed to use them on my Boler, I would put them on the bumper. That's a 4" square tube the full width of the trailer - presumably they would not work as well with round-tube bumpers or ones which are not full width. Of course, with no bumper, it would be a different matter...

Yes. In Alberta, the Traffic Safety Act Vehicle Equipment Regulation says:
Quote:
[b]Brake lamp location

[b]19 (2) The centre of a brake lamp must not be less than 380 millimetres or more than 2 metres above ground level when the vehicle is not loaded.
This location rule applies to all vehicles which require a brake lamp, including trailers.

The stock B1700 tail lights are not much above the bumper. The bottom and top surfaces of the bumper, stock, are about 300 and 400 mm (12" and 16") off the ground, so in the middle of the bumper would be too low, but [b]anything on top of the bumper would be legal; other trailers may be much lower - maybe too low. Other jurisdictions are probably similar.

Legal and good are two different things; I would perfer if my Boler's tail lights were higher, for better visibility, especially to drivers of trucks and various things like SUVs, which keep getting taller.

Hi Pete, I agree on high cost. I just purchased a like new pair of u-haul brand magnetic lights on e-bay and they only cost me 30.00 including shipping. They are nice on utility trailers and old campers that I drag in from time to time. Bill

Zip ties, duct tape and/or baling wire. My red neck tool box.

I see David and I have the same "repair" skills.
