Wiring and brakes

I have been busy hooking up my trailer connector for when I pick up my 94 Scamp next week. Do you have to run a 12V live wire to charge the batteries on the Scamp? I have installed a 7 pin round hookup on my tow vehicle and bought a male end to hook up on the Scamp when I pick it up. I ran a 12V wire from my battery to the plug as the diagram that came with the 7 pin indicated. I hope this is right.
Does anyone know how to test if the brake controller I installed is working without hooking to a trailer? It is supposed to have a green light when a trailer is connected....how does it know if one is connected? I presume a circuit is completed somewhere???
I have tested the wire from the brake controller with a multimeter and it has a very small current at all times and then a large current if I apply the brakes...does this mean I am good to go?
I appreciate everyones help here.
Thanks again,
Adrian

Brake Control

Adrian,

Your OK, It senses the resistance ground through the brakes when connected. The only way that I would test it, is hooking it to a trailer. It is easy to ruin the controller! If you followed the directions in the package, it will work.

I tested mine on a friends trailer.

Good Luck
