wiring harness plug in

Late one afternoon while driving along, I checked the mirror for marker lights on the trailer; seeing none, we pulled over and checked the trailers wiring connection plug, to find it wasn't seated firmly. Had made a fairly tight U turn a few miles back, and the harness evidently did not have enough play, and pulled the connector part way out. Seemed to seat ok, afterwards, but used a bit of "hundred-mile-an-hour tape" just to be sure.

Seems like somewhere, sometime, there was a commentary on a RV board having to do with the wiring harness plug in and a tightner, clip or band that would guarantee that the wiring harness clip didn't wiggle/jiggle or otherwise pull loose. Have done a number of unsuccessful searchs, both here and elsewhere. Anybody have input on this topic?

Thanks

This is not new with me. I forget who showed me this trick, I think it was the master, Charles, when we were in Colorado.

Take a little bungy, the type with the ball on the end, and wrap it around the connector and the trap door on the receiver. The little door has a lip that catches the connector; and with the bungy holding it together tight, it won’t come loose.

Kinda what you did with the hundred-mile-an-hour tape only reusable.

I hope this helps.

Velcro

Bill H,

I use a velcro strap around the door and connector, works great. I find it easier than the ball bungee.

trailer plug holder

Here's the little bungee/ball and the plastic nut strap that Casita provides. Both available from wal-mart.....

........Bargmans idea of the little bump on the spring loaded flap doesn't seem to be enough.
