12V Heated toilet seat - new widget?
Curious if anyone would be interested in one that would run on 12V.
Would be cushy material, could prove mighty comfy if on AC (or generator) compared to the late night waker-upper.
Still working on the design, should sell for under $100 (plus shipping.) Don't know if it will possible to do anything but a white color.

Charlie that would really bring new meaning the term Glamping!!! ;-)
I know a few people who have added a vent to the bottom of their bathroom doors so that some of the heat from the main area of the trailer can get into the bathroom to warm things up.

I wonder if you could run it off Lunar Cells so it would stay hot all night?

Maybe just use Styrofoam like we do in our outhouses. Heats up upon contact.

Get too comfortable I'll need a magazine rack in there as well.

That's why it's cold. Get on and get off. Let's not be dallying. This is a one toilet camper and there's a line.

I think the foam idea is the way to go. People have enough problems with their 12volt furnaces and fridges without using more juice on a stupid toilet seat. Besides if you have a generator or AC power why does it need to be 12 volts? The battery is not going to be much help. Also note the complete lack of electrical outlets in many small trailer bathrooms.

I can't imagine that a cold toilet seat is problem-enough for most people to warrant popping for something like this! Not only buying the product, but retro-fitting your commode for either 12v or 110v? And Rene is correct, there are really good reasons there are no outlets in these locations.

I sure hope it would be CSA approved. I would hate to think of getting a shock from it.

Lots of campers cringe at paying $100 for an entire toilet, might be a very limited market for a seat you might have to wait 10 minutes for it to heat up before using...

I like the idea of Lunar Cells way better than being methane-powered. I'd hate to see a campground littered with broken egg shell pieces due to a gas explosion............

PS: Some really good funnies came in on this idea! Back to the drawing board.

Every time I think that things in the "electric add-ons" department could NOT get more ridiculous, somebody always proves me wrong...
Francesca
P.S.
And by the way, one can already buy such a thing for under $100.00. They're really designed for home use, but since without the a/c adapter they're 12volt units they'll work just fine in a trailer. Knock yourselves out!

On our first camping trip we were in a forest service campground (snow on the ground) and the toilet seat in the outhouse was stainless steel. Since that was 49 years ago, I think we could give up the heated seat although it sounds fine.

Ouch, sorta reminds me of "Triple dog dare" and the metal flagpole incident.
