13' Burro Remodeling Started!

I'm new to this group but some of you may have already read my intro in the "Care & Feeding of Fiberglass Trailers" Section. Last week I purchased a 13' 1982 Burro Trailer for $950. It came with a solar panel, and a heavy duty battery. It smelled so bad I tore out the carpet and cushions. I added a power inverter. Next week the factory rep from Fantastic Fan is meeting me to install a fan (thank GOD!)
Here is my progress so far...I hit the road tomorrow and will hopefully be able to continue fixing things up as I travel the next 3 weeks....I turned the back into a full time bed (Wal Mart air Mattress with padding)

Wish I could have painted the doors on the cabinets, but the screws just don't want to come out!<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3f13583c94ee5TrailerKitchen.jpg/>
Then installed pergo floor

And am trying to figure out how to put a
"drop leaf" kind of table in here so I can use my computer and spread out paper work when I need to....

Learned an important lesson today working against fiberglass...it hurts!
Any other suggestions will certainly be appreciated! And if any of you are at the Czech festivals in Dwight, NE, Montgomery, MN or Wilber, NE over the next few weeks stop by and say "hi"!

:wave Hi, Joan. Great photos!! Thanks for doing such a nice job with them!

The inside of your Burro looks as fabulous as the outside... you obviously did a great job on it!

Have fun at the Czech fests, and eat a kolache or two...

Good luck with your Fantastic Fan (we love ours!)

Hmmmm... nice looking floor... havta run to Home Depot tomorrow and check out the Pergo! Trailer looks great!

One question... I was thinking of going with an air mattress, mainly for the weight difference... is it as comfortable as a regular mattress? I prefer mine to be like sleeping on granite...

Air Mattress

Haven't had a chance to sleep on it yet...it looks now like I'll be leaving Thursday morning for my first trip. I didn't realize I was supposed to have the wheel bearings packed or something? Anyway, the neighborhood mechanic is taking care of that right now.

I'll let you know next week how the air mattress is. It wasn't one of the cheaper ones...I think it was $50 or so. Twin size is the only size that fits. I thought it would be the best thing so i could easily lift it up to get to the storage areas. I put a comforter over the mattress (under the sheets) so it feels a little nicer. I like my bed softer...so don't know if you would like it.

Air Mattress

:wave
We have an air mattress in our 17' that can be made pretty hard but the problem we've found is that since we sleep crossways in the Casita, the mattress is crammed against the sides and are hard to deal with. Looking into foam mattresses now, think they would work much better.
Happy travels,

deal of the year

I was thrilled with my $500 PP, but for an extran $450 you seem to have gotten a trailer in the condition that it's going to take me at least $1000 to get to. Congratulations.

After reading your table comment I'm once again searching for a VW Westfalia type set up with a swing out table.

Pergo Flooring

:banana :banana
For those of you who like the laminate flooring, I saw Pergo in Home Depot for around 4.50 Cdn per sq. ft. I told the Wife about it and she had just come from IKEA where it was $1.98 per sq ft. with a better warranty. If Ikea is close it's worth checking out.
Cheers:
