13 foot '94 scamp hot weather camping relief? Any air

Anybody have any luck with some kind of air conditioning modifications? Even with our jumbo pedistal fan, we roasted at night :0)

Although we live in AZ, we do without. Lack of humidity here helps, but mainly, we go where it's temperate - mountains or beaches in summer, deserts in winter. Grew up in MD, though, so I understand your desire for AC!

I'm thinking your 1994 is probably not reinforced for a roof mount, so… window or closet.

Saw this earlier today:

Has the advantage of simplicity, but has to be set up and taken down every time you move the trailer.

A closet installation is a lot more work and requires cutting a hole in the shell, but many have done it. In fact, at one time it was the way Scamp did it at the factory. Do a Google search on this site for "Scamp closet AC" and you should get some ideas.

We bought a 1987 Deluxe 13ft with one installed under the bench. They cut in to the scamp wall. The closet on the deluxe is to small so I guess that is why it's under the bench. We just removed it and are hoping to replace it as we redo the Scamp.

Our 13' Scamp has the A/C unit mounted at the bottom of the closet - so it blows directly across at the sink area. I'm not sure if it was a Scamp install, or someone's mod.

We love our AC especially when it is hot and humid. Here is a link to the AC installation I did in our 13' scamp: link My opinion is that it is more work, but is more hidden than some installations. It also increases tongue weight. If you go this route, I can give you some more tips and hints if you wish.

I hope you find something that works well for you.
