I did it last year, from memory i only have bolts with nuts and spacers inside the cabinet on the hinge side...
What do you mean by front blocked off ? (My french side does not understand exactly what you want to know)...if you mean adding something to support the front, no i did not add anything i use a thick plywood, it does not bent.

I did add a piece of wood inside the where the pivot point of the cylinder is attach to the FG

LOL, which Bob is this question directed to. If me, the answer is that black thing behind the baskets is my new Power Converter, not a heater, and Bob Miller will surely recognize it as a PD4045. We have removed our propane furnace and use an electric heater at the opposite end of the trailer.

Barnard: I guess I am confused too. I am trying to picture what you called the "hinge side". Not really sure about what or where that is. Can you elaborate please? Where is the "hinge" located? I am picturing a hinge along the back side of the bed, opposite the opening side. Or are you interchanging the word "hinge" with the word "strut"?

Really great ideas here, Bob, I love the Futon bed couch/dinette combo! Clever.
The gas struts by Bernard are so handy, Mary and Bob's sliding drawers...on and on
Great Mods Folks!

Well, I have the bed made. Did not include the struts right now because of time constraints, but do have the hinges and plywood and 8" memory foam mattress. Thanks to IKEA for color co-ordination. Now on to tackle the front closet. This should be fun in 106 degree weather.

Let us know how that memory foam works out. I would like something that for my Scamp. I have a piece of 3" bed topper foam on the stock cushions now and it is OK but I feel like something better is out there.

Also interested in 8" foam you have! we have 5 foam and 3 memory foam but after a few days the 3 foam tends to walk and it feels like over by the wall is uphill on the edge of foam

I'll be sleeping in it for three weeks so I'll report at the end of the trip.
