19' to 21' Egg with hatch door needed for Kayaks

I like to bring my two kayaks camping. The kayaks are 14 and 17 feet long. I am shopping for a used fiberglass egg that will allow me to store one or both inside while traveling. I would rather secure the kayaks inside a travel trailer than lift them one more time onto the rooftop rack system atop my pickup. The older fiberglass eggs with rear doorways (Compact Jr, etc.) are too short for the kayaks. A new Lil Snoozy is long enough to accommodate the kayaks but too expensive.

Has anyone out there in Eggland retrofitted a 17 or 19 foot fiberglass travel trailer with a hatch door in the lower rear wall?

Does anyone know of an egg that with a rear hatch, door, or window that opens in a manner that would allow me to slide the kayaks into the trailer?

The hatch or window would need to be about 30" wide and 18" tall to slide the kayaks through.

I'm still hunting for the elusive Bigfoot. It's still out there somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. I wonder if a Bigfoot 17 Gaucho or Bigfoot 19' could be modified with a small rear hatch door in the bottom half of the back wall? I would like to slide kayaks into the inside an egg, rather than lift and strap them onto the roof of my pickup.

They will customize and make a shell for less.

Installation of a hinged emergency escape window in the back window position would allow you stuff yer kayaks in and then close/seal up the window again, all sans modifying/cutting into the shell of an egg

You could also cut the kayaks in half.

In all seriousness, though... Have you considered replacing them with inflatables? You may be too attached to your current kayaks to do that, though.

No inflatables dont work so good on big flat lakes. They get blown around. Slow to paddle too. Maybe the window idea would work. Maybe a need to consider a lightweight sticky toyhauler!

Jay, I'd think nearly any brand of trailer that has a flat back end and a rear dinette... you could put a hatch back there. Whether you could find one big enough to slide your kayaks through is another story. In fact, I'd research THAT before getting excited about finding that perfect trailer... and then end up being disappointed...

And the Bigfoot 19 has a flat back and a window that can be converted into a rear window emergency escape by just changing the window for a hinged, latchable one.....

I'll look into the pricing of the bare bones Lil Snoozy. I also emailed LiL Snoozy requesting photos of the new cowling they are installing in the front of the trailer to hide the view of the battery/generator and the new molding they are installing under the trailer to hide the view of the galvanized frame. I'll post them.

When they were just starting production, I think they were asking for over $9K for an empty shell for cargo. I am interested in an aerodynamic cargo trailer, which is why I asked them.

How about a bumper box, mounted "lid back" on an ordinary Scamp/Trillium, Et Al.?
The space between the benches is 30", the box would add +- 2' in length and provide a sealed locking door.
