When we bought the Hobbit Hilton, Ventura
1972, we thought we had a leak around the rear window. After stripping out the rotten interior wall we discovered that the window was fine - It was the overhead running lights
that were the problem. They have been replaced and caulked properly and the interior wall replaced.
Being flat, it actually quite simple to make a new door without going to great expense. We used knotty cedar with many layers of Marine Varnish. The wood is thick enough that we added two towel racks on the interior. We opted not to replace the window, but this can always be added if we change our minds.
