Hi
Just wanted to add a picture of my new paint job and to say keep up the information as I will need all the help I can get on repairing, changing and replacing items in this trailer. I have seen renovations, paint jobs and am watching the visions of some trailers on this site and all I can say right now is.... Thank you!

Thanks
We picked the colours to match our vehicle. The dark blue on the bottom also has a rubberised black paint underneath the wheel wells and the under body to stop scratches and stone dents. Pete the friend who painted it for us is a proffesional and has his sons working in his shop. In some of the pictures you can see some detail, this is by hand and not decals done by the boys. I like the extra touches. Pete also painted the window cover at the front to match the paint job other wise it would have been the old yellow plastic.

also in one picture show the small hinges we got at the boat store, but I found them too small and have replaced them with the ones from lee valley store. That was because gerald on this site suggested them. thanks!

I don't have inside pictures yet, but Pete is famous for painting flames and did a nice flame job on my fridge, he said because it was an awful orange colour he could not resist. Don't plan on keeping the fridge as the preveious owner redid all the wiring in the trailer to run off his van, can't turn it on from plugging it into a recepticle at a camping site but will keep the cover for the door.

Kathy E,

Awesome colors, I just bought 1975 TM14 with plans to restore. Hope I get it finished as well as you have. Do you have a photo of the new hinges, the previous owner put a rusted piano hinge or. Not pretty.

Hi, Randy

Just want to weigh in to say, per your question:

The hinges on this unit look "not-stock" to me...not because I'm familiar with Surfsides, but because I can't believe any manufacturer would use that three-low-none-high configuration for that door.

The hinges appear to me to have been sort of freeform installed on a door whose original mounting holes were filled and painted over...and is it just me, or are we looking at a couple of different types of hinge?

Francesca

If my rememberer is right... and it might not be... Surfside trailers used a "strap hinge" about six inches in length??? There's a really old thread with a dead link: Triple E Surfside door hinges wanted Your best bet might be a Marine supplier....
