1978 boler 1300 all original condition

Hi All

I'm new to the forum. My wife and I bought a 1978 boler 1300 a couple weeks ago in all original condition except for tires and a 2 yr old fridge. It was a single owner garage kept unit so in very good condition for its age.

We are planning on an almost full restore. I think we will likely leave the stuff that's in good condition alone but the rest is getting done.

1-Where I'm at now is dealing with the rust on the frame. Its just surface right so I'm using a rust inhibitor that turns the rust black then painting with a rust paint. Just curious if anyone thinks that may not be the way to go?

The rims are original and Ive painted them black but I want to get the hub caps shiny. They were painted gray. I'm in the process of sanding the paint off then I want to buff them to a shine and coat them with something clear so they don't rust. Anyone got any tips for that process or products to buff/protect the shine?

Your Boler sounds nice but we want pictures
Best product for your frame is POR15, but wear gloves and protective clothes as it will not come off skin.

For polishing your bearing caps you can use the same process I used to polish the aluminum on my Boler.

3300 Canadian. It was listed for 4K. I unwittingly swindled the guy a bit. We plugged the fridge in and no compressor start up no matter what we did. He was as puzzled as me and we agreed that we had to assume it didn't work but it might. (He was selling it for a friend) Long story short I had no idea how a 3 way fridge worked and neither did he. I read into it and it later and it works just fine.

By the time I'm done I figure I'll be into it for another 2000 maybe more.

Sounds pretty average, seen a lot less and a lot more.
Whatever you do, make sure that your wheel bearings are new and the tires are new or at least newer.
When you think about it, other than the brake lights and turn signal lights, the bearings and tires are the most important things to consider first.

Thats funny about the fridge. Big bonus as the new ones are expensive.
That's a good price at this time of year (esp with newer fridge) for one in good original shape. There are a lot of ones in sad shape out there and people still want quite a bit for them.

1974, 13 foot Boler for sale. Needs work. It's been sitting unused for 5 years. Located in Rossland BC. Window on door is broken, door handle broken, cracks in fiberglass, slow leaking tire, no cushions, no fridge ect. White top, cream colored bottom. Needs TLC. I just don't have time to fix it up. Selling as is. The price reflects the condition. $3500 obo.
