7' Dometic Cabana Awning for the Burrita

Here are pics of my new lanai, the 7' Dometic Cabana Awning. My square footage is now doubled. Please note I forgot to take tent stakes and resorted to holding it down with rocks.

Nice, very nice. Any chance you can take a picture from the doorway of the trailer to the interior of the lanai.

I know I'm asking a lot, but I love pics!

No problem, Donna. I'll be at Crested Butte this week and will be using it again. I'll get some inside shots.

Yes, Eddie, this is like the one on Ebay. I bought the 10' model at the good Ebay price and it was WAY too big. Too bad for me the seller didn't offer a return policy. So, I found the 7' model from a different source and it fits great. There are a couple of differences between the two. The 7' model has the capability of zipping into its own bag if you wish to leave it on the trailer while driving down the road. The one from Ebay doesn't.

Cabana Awning

Do you have the 10' cabana awning that you first ordered? Is it for sale?

Yes, I still have it. I hung it for a week or so under my backyard pergola and there are a few leaf stains on it. It was also rained on. However, it still looks new compared to how the 7' awning looks after being used in the mountains :-) I'll sell it for $150 including shipping.

Here are some inside shots of the Cabana room - now known as my Lanai. This room has more than doubled my square footage and I love it.

I can absolutely see why you like it. Thanks for sharing the pics. Not everyone camps in a relatively bug free area like I do, I think this will be a solution for those who hate flying bugs!

Do you think the larger one would be a good fit for my 17' burro?
I would love to get something like your photos!!!
Does it require an awning bar or something to affix it to the exterior?
(Thanks for sending me the pannier link!)

Sorry, Gail Anne. Ron Walker is now the proud owner of the bigger cabana.

Shirley - I love the lanai. Did you get it from camping world? How does it attach to the burro? And how long does it take to set up?

Sheryl, I saved a couple hundred dollars by not shopping at Camping World. I got it here Dometic A&E Cabana Dome Awning

It attaches to a standard awning rail like this one Universal Molding RV2033MF16 16' Aluminum Awning Rail : Amazon.com : Automotive

Putting it up gets easier every time I do it. I'm now down to about 15 minutes. It comes down in about 60 seconds. I am now carrying around a 2 step step-stool because I'm short on one end :-)

I'll have to look into this. We normally used our (awful) Catalina awning - which now needs either repairs or replacement. Since we're looking at that much $$, I may just spring for something totally different. We also will put up coleman 10x10 outdoor canopy with screens and put the 'barca-loungers' [as my friend calls them] in that area for bug free naps. The cabana would combine them into one adventure.
Do you keep yours attached to the camper in the bag? or take it off all the time?

I found an 8' awning rail here. So why such a drastic price difference? What am I missing??

I looked at the price on Amazon awning rail. I think it should be $38, not $385. Too funny.

I take the awning off the trailer before traveling. I don't need anything lowering my gas mileage. If it were to blow off I'd cry for days.
