'71 Boler

OK so we are diving into this head first and giving it a go. I found a '71 Boler that the shell looked good but the guts...well lets just say it has been a bit neglected. I am going to put pics of our renovations and hope to be camping in it on Nov 5-6th... ambitious? Yes but my little girl is soooo excited she loves camping (plus it was cold last time in that tent even with the heater!)

Replacing the cabinet doors & well covers as well as shelves.
All wood cut & painted this weekend. Linoleum floor removed. Later this week I hope to hang all of the wood doors/shelves. Next weekend - floor installation & possibly figure out the wiring issue with the running lights. The electric to the outlet for running tools/ac works, interior lights out (possibly just need bulbs) but the running lights/tail lights don't work. Currently running tow lights strapped to the back bumper but would really like to have it working properly. I haven't searched but if anyone has any experience or recommendation for fixing that let me know! TIA

There's help here and also a Boler Group on Facebook. Good luck!

Thanks - it has been fun so far!

I do have a question - what is the best way to make a template for cutting the wood for bottom bunk? And I saw a pic of a bottom bunk that looked like it is made of 2 parts... a big long one and a narrow long one in the back...any reason?

Thanks

When the top bunk is down it leans against the long narrow cushion to create the angle for the back of the couch,
When the top bunk is up the long narrow cushion makes the lower bunk bed wider.

Another question -
There is a spring opening vent on the roof but the way it is rigged to pull close is a bead chain through a cut in the screen and a stopper plate that gets pushed up against the screen and the bead wedged to a smaller hole in the plate. How is this supposed to be? LOL

Thanks

When i bought my 74 boler it had the same type vent.
I was going to replace it prier to attending a bolerama but
never got to it. When i got home from the event the vent was gone
Think i left it open and the wind caught it.
If I were you i would replace it, i did mine and the new one even had the pop rivet holes in the same place!

I am at about the same stage with mine as you are. I chose to just rewire the whole thing rather than chase gremlins as my lights did not work when I bought it either. Come to find out all the wiring was so old and brittle I would not suggest using it. Without a chassis ground it is very important the wring is in good shape. Especially all the ground leads since it needs to be provided for each circuit.

Some nice progress after a few days of solid work... floor laid down (still have to put the metal flashing/moulding) new cabinet doors hung and shelves replaced. A/C reinstalled.
Still debating on the fridge...going to put a few hours in tomorrow morning...lots left to do but hoping to complete (well get it useable) by next weekend and shooting for 11/19 for maiden voyage!
Will paint interior in the spring.

Great job thus far on the Reno! Love the floor along with the blue cabinets. They are fun to work on and nows the time with the weather getting wetter. Keep posting and good luck !

Sewing

Did you sew the curtains and the cushion covers yourself? Looks great!
