A few pics of my 73 Trillium

I picked it up last year and started to tackle some maintenance before camping season. The frame was cracked, the axle was toast, no battery tray, bent coupler, rotten spare tire mount, corroded lights, jimmy joed wiring etc.

I didn't take pictures of the process, except for this.



I ended up bolting in the new axle with a 3" lift block, so you can lower it to stock height very easily. Here's a few camping pictures.









This year I'm installing a new fridge and furnace and hoping to add some better shelves to my closet and polish the exterior.

Awesome rig. I'm wondering if I can jack up my Scamp when I get a new axle. I like the height the Trilliums sit stock better than the height the Scamps sit stock. The lift is just further improvement.

can i ask you where you purchased that canopy over the picnic table? never seen one quite like it....

Thanks for the comments. The picnic table tarp is not mine but I believe it was purchased at Cabelas.

When I installed the axle I welded an L bracket to the underside of the frame. Before welding the L bracket on I drilled 2 holes and welded 2 nuts on the frame side of the L bracket. I drilled holes in the frame big enough so the bracket would sit flat against the frame. On the vertical piece of the L bracket I drilled holes for either a stock configuration or for a 3" lift configuration. I took a piece of 3" square tube and drilled it to match my captured nuts. To lower/lift the trailer I just use shorter/longer bolts to the frame and move the bolts on the vertical section of the L bracket. Anyway I'm pretty happy with how it worked out. If anyone is interested I can post some pics.

We used to always sleep in the back before we got the Trillium. People make fun of how little room is in the Trillium, it's all relative.

I wish I would have taken welding instead of auto body repair back in high school.

I took art in high school. You can do anything that you want to do. Mig welding is very simple. I first borrowed an old constantly breaking welder and then bought a decent mig welder and taught myself to mig weld out of necessity. Prepping the metal is most of the job after that you look at the chart and tune the welder to the thickness of the metal and the size of wire you are using. That's 90% of a good weld. I learn a lot of things because I can't afford to pay people.

I really like the lift mod for your trillium, Just so that i have got it right: on the second pict. that you posted am I seeing the faintest corner of one of your upper (stock) mounting holes in the "L" bracket? both pictures show the axle with the lift spacer in, right?

I'd love to know if you've dared to tow the trillium on some rough trails, if the lift and short length from wheels to hitch is enough to keep it from bumping the bottom through gullies or over crests? I have a remote spot I'd like to bring our trillium to but our axle is pretty tired and i'm nervous about the bottom fiberglass getting dinged going over rocks.

You are correct, take out the 3" lift block, and use the other set of holes for stock height. Both pictures are with the lift in.

I've never towed it at stock height before, one day when I'm bored I'll make a 15" drop ball mount and try towing it at stock height to see if I get better fuel economy.

The problem with towing the trailer over rough trails isn't the clearence or avoiding damage, it's everything ending up in a big mess on the floor.

For what it's worth, I leave my bed made up and put everything that moves on the bed. ( heavier stuff close to the axle and lighter stuff in the rear )
