I've been working on my closet-changing it into shelves. I've opted for fiberglass and have already made my shelves and have cut them to size. The shelves are held in place with tape and the glass sheeting is cut and ready to go. Paper is protecting the floor....now for the mess.

I wet the fabric and put in place for the first seam. I kicked over the cup of the remaining resin for the second and third layer. It ran off the protective layer onto the want-to-be-bamboo floating floor. I cleaned up with acetone--but the burro and I remain a sticky mess. There. I have vented and feel better....if still very sticky. And only seven more to go on top of the two shelves and eight on the bottom.

Ouch. Been there and done that. If you haven't discovered these gloves, I recommend them.

Thank you Thomas. I do purchase them -- this time, unfortunately I was up to my elbows in sticky goo by the time I was done. And as an added bonus! The acetone peeled some sort of topcoat on sections of the the flooring. Jeesh! When I screw up I do it right. That's okay. It is a learning experience hopefully. The shelf is looking pretty good and I've now done all the top fiberglass attachments.

Oh man, I hate lessons learned. But thanks for the tutorial! You're welcome to vent here anytime, as long as it's about yourself. If you had one piece of advice to give someone who's looking to install shelves the same way... what would that advice be?

Piece of advice: cover the floor in plastic well taped down and then that absorbent layer of newspaper. Oh, and polish up your sense of humor! It does look great when its done and really strong and light weight : )
