add toilet to scamp 19

I have a scamp 19 layout 8 without a bath. I would like to put in a toilet like the stock one. Has any one done this and if so I would love some pictures.

Hi Rob. Layout 8 has the same bathroom layout as a sidebath 16' Scamp (4 & 5), if that helps you and those that may have pictures. Sorry I don't.

I can tell you the black water tank vent goes out the side of the trailer, rather than the roof and the only hole in the floor is for the 3" discharge.

What year is your Scamp? I'm not at all familiar with layout 8. You'll probably need to get the shower pan from Scamp. After you have that you can lay everything out. Scamp also has the complete toilet for I believe around $365. I have occasionally seen the toilet setup cheaper on ebay (mine has a small freshwater leak I need to find so I keep my eyes open). The drain from the shower to the grey tank is simply garden hose.

Steve thank you I have called Scamp re: this and your price is about right. It looks like the toilet drain has to be offset to miss the frame. I only have seen the setup in pictures and I do not like surprises. Rob

You could just do your own thing, build a small room in the correct dimensions and use a porta-potty. I seriously doubt that I'll ever attempt to shower in this bathroom.

Hi Ron,
Rather than dealing with the plumbing problems associated
with installing a conventional RV toilet you might consider
a simple sailboat type composting toilet. I have been living
full time with one for the last 4 years in my 5th wheel trailer
and am quite satisfied with it. It is not too difficult to
service. Not having to deal with black water is a big plus
when one is not connected to a sewer system.
There are two of this sort manufactured by Airhead
and Nature 's Head. Attachment shows installation of a
Nature's Head in my 35' King of th Road 5th wheel trailer.
Good Luck, Larry H

BE AWARE!!

The sealant toilet that Scamp sells has been modified for RV use. The toilets was designed for marine use- if you buy it from someone other than Scamp you will likely have to make some modifications.
I opted to buy mine from Scamp for my side "privacy room" 16 footer. I haven't installed it yet, but it seems pretty straight forward. The bonus from buying it from Scamp is that you can also ask them to include all of the plumbing for the dumping lines and venting. It takes the guess work out for those of us that haven't installed one before, and don't have another one to use as a direct reference.

Ryan: thank you I read a thread about your same 16 footer that said the same thing. I will by mine toilet from scamp. Part of my problem is how wide is bath room? I will get the toilet first and build around it. Rob
