adding a window to Scamp 16

Greetings we are thinking about adding a small window to the front side(opposite the door) of the Scamp we have a small dinette in front and it gets a little stuffy in hot weather, has anyone had experience with this?

A good Hehr window would be no challenge. Its just a matter of measure twice, cut accurately. Also be sure the area is flat and free of obstacles ( like wiring)
If you use a tool such as a Roto-Zip be sure and set the blade shallow to avoid twisting the ratfur all up with the blade.
Go slow and use a dust mask when cutting the fiberglass.

Thank you for that advice we have a 2006 and have completely gutted it and replaced almost everything but haven't quite dared to put in a new window, the other problem is the door doesn't quite fit and we even bought a new style door that we saw at the factory from Scamp but we can't seem to get it installed. Oh well another project for another day.

You don’t have to be concerned about putting a window in the side of the camper. I put one in on my 13’ Scamp, photo below. It not only made the food prep area lighter, the rigid aluminum frame actually stiffened the side of the camper. The fiberglass above the belly band is not as thick as it is below the band. I think I have toilet paper thicker than the fiberglass in some of the areas.

I had to place the new window to the left because the smaller Scamp window was already on the right side, and the housing for the refrigerator venting had to be raised because of the larger frig I installed. You could easily center the window, or place it to the right if you like. It’s a really nice addition.
