Adding Bunk beds?

Has anyone added bunk beds to a to a Burro or similar? If a couch is made to convert into a double bed, has anyone turned it into bunk beds?

We are still shopping for our first egg and I am wondering the involvement if we bought one and converted it ourselves.

In many of these smaller eggs, the front couch turns into a bunk bed already. The back flips up, you put in 2 removeable legs, and the couch back is now the top bunk. The couch seat is now the bottom bunk.

The dinette area is what turns into a double bed.

Good luck shopping!

Thank you.

So sometimes I read that the front couch turns into a bed, but
'bunk bed' is not specified in the description. Also if the info states, "sleeps 3". I have been assuming that sleeps 3, means no bunk bed. Could some people mean the double bed sleeps one and the couch converts to a bunkbed and sleeps 2?...I have so much to learn!

Ahh yes, I see what you mean. I believe some 16 footer's have a double and a single (but someone else could verify that).

Ours sleeps 5! My 2 youngest kids sleep on opposite ends of the bottom bunk, my oldest on the top bunk. But, that's only til they're too big

Here's a link of pics showing the dinette and couch in use for both purposes - this is probably the most common setup for 13-foot trailers without a bathroom.

What a fantastic Boler! I love the color scheme.

This is the set up we are looking for if we get a 13'. If we find a 16' we still want bunk beds in front and no bathroom.

So basically, in a 13', if I see a couch, it's going to most likely be one that converts into bunks.

Thanks

Yes, it's a great re-do! My wife ran across this online years ago, and it was the reason we started looking for an Egg.

Yes, most likely a front couch would convert to a bunk. If the person selling doesn't know, have them look and see if the back of the couch is fastened to the front wall via a couple hinges on a wooden 'ledge'/support (you'll find threads on here for how people have fabricated them if needed). If it's hinged, but doesn't have the bunk supports, you can buy them from Scamp.

Luke, I like your Blue Screen Room. Looks like a good size and nice and stable. What brand is it?

Thanks!

Hi Melissa! Sorry, those aren't my pics - just some I'd saved in my favorites of somebody elses project! Ironically tho, after I glanced at them today - I did a quick search for that blue tent too
